I am almost at the end of my three week internship with the Village and I don’t even know where to start. I got to meet so many interesting people and learned so much about the industry. The media industry exceeded all the expectations and stereotypes; it can be stressful and hard work but its definitely worth it! All the media perks and the feeling of actually seeing your client’s campaign in print is something that I’ll never forget. And if not that, I will never be able to watch TV, or ride the bus again without analysing all the different advertising campaigns. The lasting effects of being a media intern.

During the first two weeks I was introduced to all the key programmes and websites used in media buying. These tools have been my life saviours during these past few weeks. It took some initial playing around and a couple of lost moments surrounded by tons and tons of data, but I eventually mastered them (or at least I know the basics). My main project was putting together a competitive for new client Casafina. I definitely did not expect to be working on something that might actually be send to a client!

I met so many media owners that pitched some amazing options and campaigns, from Trinity Mirror to the Bauer Media group’s presentation of the power of Radio. It was incredible to see everyone in action. Yet, the highlight of my two weeks at Village has got to be the client meeting with Sailor Jerry! For the first time I got to see everything and everyone that was involved in a PR/Media campaign from the start. It was fascinating seeing an idea materialise from scratch. I never knew that there were so many different aspects involved, and I could finally see how my competitive analysis’s were used.

Lastly, I want to thank everyone at the Village for the fun times, the hard work, all the helpful and for Fizzy Friday. You guys have opened my eyes to the world of Media.
